Restoration and re-interpretation of historic eras has been a large part of my recent work. These projects have ranged from restoration and remodeling of a Victorian era school, Art Deco and Art Moderne adaptations of existing historic buildings to modern uses, and new in-fill projects within the Nevada City Historic District.
Nevada City has given us many opportunities to work within its historic district to update and re-purpose 19th century buildings for the 21st century. This work started in 1990 when we restored a home in Quincy for the local Plumas County Historic Museum. It continues to this day renovating historic homes in Nevada City, Port Costa, and Fremont California. Part of the joy of this kind of work is the discovery of the living history of the building, its builders and previous inhabitants. Restoration and re-use are the highest form of sustainable living.
